About Me

Born in Amsterdam’s Spinozastraat, I am a Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Oulu, Finland, and an Emerita Professor of Pedagogy and Philosophy at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

I am a youth librarian, teacher educator, ethics consultant and philosophical counsellor. My pedagogical practices are grounded in academic philosophy and a postqualitative research paradigm. I am interested in spaces where child and philosophy meet with a particular focus on researching epistemic and other kinds of injustice in the South.
